I am hoping to spend some time trying to kill at least one this winter. I've always wanted to call in a wolf and that hunt was one for the books. 1 I am in north west wyoming about an hour from yellowstone so we obviously have a lot of wolves. Posts: 433 Tryed numerous times, one time we even had wolfs call back but, never see a wolf when we where out hunting. Jeff made a great shot at 176 yards and we had our second wolf in as many days. Anybody on here called or attempted to call wolves in Heading to Idaho in a few weeks and gonna give it a try. A few seconds later he moved in a few more yards to where Jeff could see him and stopped to look for the sound again. FoxPitch changes pitch to bring in picky predators. He has had mixed luck with the Alpha Wolf Howler from Rocky Mountain Game Calls, based down the mountain in Kamiah, Idaho. FoxFusion option allows you to mix two different sounds any time during the calling sequence. I was kicking myself at that point because I didn't bring a rifle with me and Jeff couldn't see the wolf. Once I went to higher-end Foxpro calls, I got better results, mainly because the speakers are better and the more powerful remote control lets you set the unit farther away from the shooter. Coke cruises the vast Alaska tundra and mountain terrain, pausing periodically to play a lone wolf howl on a FoxPro electronic caller. (I like to make the predator look for the call if possible instead of letting them pin point the sound and then just sit and watch) About a minute after I turned off the sound I noticed Jeff adjusting his position as he spotted movement.Ī big male was sneaking down through the small trees and it stopped at about 180 yards. This device worked for me, so this might work for. I ran the call for 30 seconds and then turned it off. If you are looking for the best device to do that, then check out the FOXPRO Banshee Electronic Predator Call. We setup close to where we had shot the female the day before and I turned on coyote pup distress again. The next day I hiked back in with another buddy who has had wolf on his bucket list for a long time. Literally within 30 seconds we had a wolf running at the call and he shot a nice female at 70 yds. (or not at all) We got settled in and I turned coyote pup distress on at a medium volume. I told my buddy to be ready because the brush in the area was thick and I knew it could happen really quick. We hiked in to the spot, set up my Fury, and got into a good hiding spot. ![]() When he got back to camp and told us about it and that he thought they were hanging out in the area either due to a den or kill another buddy and I made a plan to go after them the next day. ![]() After that he did some poking around and found a lot more tracks in the area. He had his bow in his hand so he quickly ranged it, nocked an arrow, and drew back only to have the wolf walk off into the brush as he settled his pin on it. A buddy who was archery hunting had one walk past him while he was eating his lunch and as he stood up he saw it standing and looking at him from the middle of the old road he was on. I was fortunate to call in a wolf on two concecutive days in Idaho this spring on a bear hunt.
